On Thursday, August 27, 2021, we went on a Field Trip to the Mobile Medical Museum actress the street from USA Children and Women's hospital. When we first arrived, a guy had us volunteer to test the ph levels in certain things such as soil and vinegar. After we concluded the experiment, two guys that just graduated high school who volunteer at the museum told us about their college experience, scholarships we could apply for, and how they both shared the common love for research. Once that was over one of the men who we listened to did another experiment with different types of paper glasses and had us all look through certain ones that simulate they ways different people with eye problems see, and reminded us to not treat them in a different way than you would any other seeing person. We then went inside the museum and learned about how the iron lung was used, how polio and the coronavirus are similar, and how to tell the difference between a male and a female skeleton. I wish our trip was longer and we could’ve walked around the museum for ourselves and go to every room. The most interesting thing that I learned was that you can tell the difference between a male and female skeleton by looking at their pelvic area. Women’s pelvic bone sits lower and is wider than a mans to give birth to children. The Mobile Medical Museum was a great experience and I look forward to going again in my free time someday!
