On Wednesday March 16, 2022, a fellow senior Biomed student came and spoke to our class about her future career path as a forensic nurse, specifically a sexual assault nurse. She gave us a strawberry and a plastic bag and then told us to smash the berries. After we smashed the berries she came by and put liquid into our bags and then shook it and stuck in a wooden stick. When she put in the stick and scraped the edges a clear sticky liquid came onto the stick, that sticky substance was the strawberry DNA! It was a super fun lab and was very interesting to see how we can use this to help sexual assault victims in real life!
