On December 10, 2021, Mr. Murphy from the Coast Guard Auxiliary came and spoke to our class about boating safety! Some of the main points he made were that the law of our state prohibits any child under 8 from wearing a lifejacket. Some other states say if you're under the age of 13 you should wear a lifejacket. There are different kinds of lifejackets, offshore, onshore, floatation aid, inflatable, high impact vest, and ring. He stressed to us the importance of being cautious and not playing round boats. He also showed us a real boat and talked about how often you need to reissue it!
