Ultrasounds with Ms. Brandi!

On January 19, 2023, Ms. Brandi, a sonographer from our local hospital came and spoke to our class about ultrasounds and even demonstrated how an ultrasound works on some of us students!

She also brought with her, Mr. Greg Yeager, a radiologist, who helped her explain how ultrasounds work and what they are used for. The "cool gel" that one first thinks of when ultrasounds come to mind is used to keep good contact with skin and sound waves stay where you want them. This allows for a seamless and quick scan which is what ultrasounds are known for! As well as its lack of radiation, which is why it is used for scans during pregnancy.

Mrs. Brandi and her knowledge of ultrasound machines was extremely interesting and I enjoyed getting to see my friends being scanned as well!
